A phone call to the school is not required. Upon return to school, the student should arrive with a note from the doctor/dentist or parent & turn it into the attendance clerk within two days of returning to school after the absence. Parents can also email a note to the attendance office at KVautorlaplacel@schools.nyc.gov.

The note should state the reason for the absence, the day(s) missed, and a parent’s daytime phone number in case we have questions or need more information.

The parent must come into the Attendance Office to sign out the student out of school.  ID will be required.

If a student is too sick to sit in class while waiting for a ride home, (s)he must sit in Student Services and will be called up when the parent arrives.

If a parent sends the student to school with a note stating when (s)he needs to be checked out and why, then the attendance office can give him/her an Early Release Pass.
